To the Members of the Bartow Camp:

You are cordially invited to the

Lee / Jackson Banquet

The Oglethorpe Club

January 19th 2008

7:00 P.M.

Gentlemen, Our Annual Lee-Jackson Banquet is coming up very quickly in January.  We’re planning another great event for you to enjoy.  This year we’re planning another musical program for you.  The program will feature the musical talents of Mr. Jaime Kena who will be singing and playing the “Love Songs” and Ballads from the period, including songs from Stephen Foster.   I’m sure that you’ve heard the songs such as “Old Folks at Home” and “Jeannie with the Light Brown Hair” but you’ve probably not heard them lately because of political correctness.  Many of his songs have been banned because of their reference to “Darkies” being happy or they are sad because of the “Darky’s” master died (Massa’s in the Cold, Cold Ground) – things that they don’t want you to know.  Just recently Florida has voted to change the State Song because it had references to blacks that they said offended them. This political correctness thing is really beginning to annoy me (even more than in the past!).  Anyway, in addition to a super program we’ve got a great meal planned.  The cost is $57 per person.  Remember, this is not a fundraiser for the camp.  All of this money is used to defray the actual costs charged by the Oglethorpe Club. There will be a cash bar for those of you who would like to partake.  The Social hour will begin at 7:00 P.M. and dinner will be served at 8:00.   I know that this is right before Christmas but if you would like to get your reservations sent in please do so, so you don’t have to worry about them later. Please send payment to me at the following address:

Many Thanks to Gerry Kincaid!

For those of you who may be unaware, Gerry has worked hard and long to get a camp website up and running.  He has actually got one up and working and can be seen at the following address:
